Tattooed Glass

Begin the Process

The tattooed glass process begins with the selection of the pattern and centering it under the glass pane. Now using an extra fine marker to trace the pattern on the glass. Remember the picture will be a mirror image of the pattern.

Engraving

The engraving is done with a Dremel or similar rotary drill using a stone bit. When you touch the glass with the stone bit you only want to dimple the glass. The picture is made of a series of overlapping dimples.

Adding Color

Before painting make sure the glass is clean. For best effect use pearlized and metallic paints. Regular paint will not show the textured glass. After painting the picture then use a matte black spray paint over the entire surface for best effect. After it has dried then coat it with a clear acrylic to make it scratch resistant.
